Amateur boxing is both an Olympic and Commonwealth Games sport and is also a standard fixture in many international games-it even offers its very own World Championships. Boxing is supervised by the referee over the series of one- to three-minute intervals called rounds. It's wise decided when a rival is deemed incapable to keep by the referee, is disqualified for breaking a rule, resigns by throwing in the towel, or perhaps is pronounced the winner or loser in line with the judges' scorecards at the conclusion of the competition. In case both fighters gain equal scores from the judges, the fight is recognized as a draw (professional boxing). In Olympic boxing, because of the fact that the winner has to be declared, in the case of a draw - the judges use technical criteria to find the most deserving winner of the bout.

While individuals have fought in hand-to-hand combat since ahead of the dawn of history, the cause of boxing just as one organized sport could be its acceptance from the ancient Greeks as a possible Olympic game in BC 688. Boxing started out from 16th- and 18th-century prizefights, largely in the uk, to the forerunner of modern boxing in the mid-19th century, again initially in the uk and later on in america.
